NO DOWNLINK (2003, 9 min 50 sec), single channel video.

Music by Nick Hallett and Sara Marcus.

In this two-sided memory, fact and fiction interplay in the mind of a growing boy as he reinvents both his personal experience and a national trauma through a quixotic excavation of both the real event (the Challenger explosion) and the psychological event (a short story about a long lost siamese twin).

"No Downlink (2003) is a playful reimagining of [Thorson's] origins as the civilised half of a Siamese pair rudely parted at birth in a bit of impromptu surgery. Still sporting the livid, symbolic wound as a sweet-tempered adult, Thorson plots a half-desired, half-dreaded reunion with his prodigal “wolf boy” twin through deftly calibrated split-screen compositions, his memories – both real and imagined – striated with the plumes of the Challenger space shuttle explosion." -Ioannis Mookas, Senses of Cinema
